New
Forester won the 2003 RJC Special Award
The new Subaru Forester
has been chosen to receive the RJC Special Award of the 2003 RJC
Car of the Year awards presented by the respected Automotive
Researchers' & Journalists' Conference of
Japan (RJC), a nonprofit organization.
The RJC Car of the Year awards
is one of the most prestigious automobile awards in Japan. The
RJC Special Award is chosen by a vote of the panel of judges from
among models introduced between November 2001 and October 2002
that have been nominated by the Japanese automobile manufacturers
themselves. The Forester won the RJC Special Award as a result
of the judges' high evaluation of its
just-right body size, comfortable ride and highly stable driving
feel that allows smooth, secure performance on-road while maintaining
a ground clearance with enough leeway for excellent running off-road.
In 1998, Subaru
received simultaneous double awards for the Legacy as 1999
RJC New Car of the Year and for
the Pleo, a minicar for the Japanese market, as 1999 RJC New Car
of the Year in the minicar category.
